Research focus for construction robotics and human-robot teams towards resilience in construction: scientometric review

Purpose Rapid urbanisation and recent shock events have reiterated the need for resilient infrastructure, as seen in pandemic. Yet, knowledge gaps construction robotics human–robot teams (HRTs) research limit maximising these emerging technologies’ potentials. This paper aims to review state of art this area identify future directions HRTs able aid resilience responsiveness architecture, engineering (AEC) sector. Design/methodology/approach A total 71 peer-reviewed journal articles centred on were reviewed through a quantitative approach using scientometric techniques Gephi VOSviewer. Research focus deductions made bibliometric analysis co-occurrence publications. Findings study revealed sparse small output area, indicating immense potential. Existing clusters signifying further studies are automation construction, teaming, safety robotic designs. Key publication outlets contribution towards built environment’s discussed. Practical implications The identified thematic areas illustrate priorities focus. It raises awareness human factors collaborative robots potential design needs resilience. Originality/value AEC
